Here's a list of things to don't when you're considering a mortgage.

1) Do not incur any new credit inquiries.                               

2) Do not open any new charge accounts.

3) Do not pay off any collections or charge-offs.   Doing this may decrease the credit scores.

4) Do not consolidate any debts into one or two credit cards or close any accounts.

5) Do not deposit any amount over $100 into any bank account without a complete and thorough paper-trail of the source of the funds.    Funds used for the down payment and closing costs is a hot topic these days.

6) Do not increase balances on any credit cards.

7) Do not change jobs without notifying your loan officer about the change.
